For the latest Hessian Scrum episode, I organized a roundtable on the topic Music and Cinema, eventually narrowing it down to Metal and Cinema. Joining me are some very illustrious guests, all returning from previous podcast entries: Randal Plunkett, the 21st Baron Dunsany, who, as a filmmaker himself, offers some privileged insight on the both the craft and the business side of cinema; John Pearson, from the site Excuse the Blood, and Jason/Lonegoat, who should be a familiar name to our listeners as the man behind the project Goatcraft and the Necropolis podcast, also associated with Hessian Firm.
We cover many interesting topics in this lively discussion, including the impact of modern technology on the consumption of music and cinema (streaming services, algorithms, etc), the importance of sound and soundtracks, “metal” movies, unjustly forgotten gems, and directors such as David Cronenberg and Shinya Tsukamoto.
