And now for something truly special: Raphael sits down to talk with Snorre Ruch, one of the pioneers of Norwegian Black Metal (and, consequently, of the modern black metal sound), which by itself earns him a special spot in the history of underground music. Besides his main project, Thorns, Snorre’s contributions can be heard on Mayhem’s iconic “De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas” and some albums by Satyricon. He also produces music for art galleries and installations under Thorns Ltd. A new Thorns album is in the works, as well as material from a new band named Sigma. In this interview we discuss, among many other things, the origins of Norwegian black metal, the influence of Nordic nature and folklore, inspiration from classical music; our conversation also takes us to perhaps unexpected tangents, from videogames to spaghetti westerns.
Hi Snorre.
Sorry to nerve you with this crap, i have to use you (sorry) to get the mail adress of erik danielson from Watain. I want to ask him if i could buy the original Helvete Doku he made that was on youtube. Cause now, i just can find pieces of it or with spanish subtitles and the german titles are full of bullshit. I do understand norsk a little bit, because of you and your channel and of course because I do write the lyrics from booklets from original bought CD’s like Darkthroe, Emperor, Thorns, Burzum and so on. It is a hobby that calms me. I am shy and paranoid like you, or like you told me when i wrote you under your 7th video for ”Trolls” that i need a guitar and you did answer me. You will find it under your video. You was very pleased to write cause it was the guitar topic i ask you about. Not the usual questions you get from other users what happened over 30 years ago. Maybe you remind me.
Wish you the very best and maybe, if you want, you could give me tipps for beginners with a guitar in the future. If you want, just if you want.
Wish you the very best.
