John Marmysz, PhD, professor of philosophy at the College of Marin, has pursued a lifelong investigation of the question of nihilism and, consequently, the purpose (or lack of it) of existence. He is also the vocalist of the punk band Sacripolitical. Our discussion touches on topics such as the aesthetics of death metal and horror films, the distinct approaches of punk and heavy metal music, the pervasiveness of pessimism in contemporary society and much more.
